The Chophouse On Broad Street: A Dining Experience Like No Other

We had the absolute honor of dining at The Chophouse on Broad Street, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience. Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hellier, it is situated perfectly right here in our beautiful Downtown Rome and within walking distance of all the shops. While Wesley and I have dined at some really incredible restaurants in our travels, nothing has compared to this. The décor, the service, the ambiance, there’s just no comparison. But the food… oh, the food, was absolutely delicious. It was such a remarkable experience that we haven’t stopped talking about it since we walked out the doors.

I have to admit, I was a little intimidated coming in because we aren’t always used to such an elevated, high-end dining experience. But from the very first moment, the team made us feel so at ease and so much like family. We sat down with the owner, Mr. Hellier, and hearing the heart behind this restaurant made us fall in love with it even more.

The Story Behind the Vibe At The Chophouse On Broad Street

I’ve always believed that people are more likely to support a business when they know the story and the heart behind it, and The Chophouse on Broad Street has a beautiful one. About nine years ago, the Hellier family came to Rome while their son was playing soccer at Darlington. One Sunday at Heritage Park, Mr. Hellier noticed men who looked hungry and offered to bring them some food. Word quickly spread, and four months later, a hundred people showed up! Ever since, their family has been feeding the hungry at the park every single Sunday.

When the building on Broad Street became available, they saw an opportunity. They wanted to create the vibe of a Manhattan or New Orleans chop house right here in Rome so locals wouldn’t have to make that exhausting drive back from Atlanta after a great meal. But more importantly, they wanted a place where their chefs could create amazing food that could also be shared with their friends down at the park.

The warm atmosphere inside is actually inspired by their own family holiday dinners, where they put their cell phones away, talk too much, eat too much, and cook generous portions so everyone goes home with leftovers!

Our Feast At The Chophouse On Broad Street

We wanted to try a little bit of everything! For appetizers, I had the savory Pork Belly, and Wesley ordered the Steak Tartare. He would have eaten the entire thing if I had not reminded him to leave some so we could take pictures to show you guys!

For our main courses, Wesley had to try the Signature Collection, which features a gorgeous sampling of Ribeye, Filet Mignon, and New York Strip. The Chophouse cooks everything on a 1,600-degree broiler using top 3% USDA prime beef, and the crust on the steaks is unbelievable. I had the Sicilian Chicken. It is an authentic family recipe from Mr. Hellier’s father-in-law from Sicily, beautifully elevated by their late head chef from New Orleans.

All the sides are served family-style! We passed around plates of Brussels sprouts, creamed spinach, creamed corn, and loaded baked potatoes. Every single sauce, dressing, and dessert is made completely from scratch in-house.

To drink, Wesley enjoyed his Acqua Panna and Stella Artois, and I ordered the Blueberry Muffin Martini. Trust me on this, it literally tastes exactly like a blueberry muffin. It is a dessert in a glass!

A Team Like No Other

Running a restaurant of this caliber takes incredible teamwork. Mr. Hellier brought his background in engineering into the restaurant, creating a unique culture of continuous improvement. The staff takes true ownership, tracking their performance, and they even sit down for a “family meal” together every single shift to talk about how they can improve. You can truly feel that dedication and pride in the way they treat their guests.

The Chophouse On Broad Street Membership Experience

We also learned about their fantastic membership program, which is an absolute must if you plan on making The Chophouse a regular stop or love attending their special events! Being a member gives you some amazing perks throughout the year. For example, when they host their exclusive tasting nights and special dinners, members get a fantastic discount on tickets, like paying $85 for a special event instead of the $115 non-member price! It is such a brilliant way to experience the very best of what they have to offer while getting that extra level of VIP treatment every time you walk through the doors.

Making Broad Street a Destination

It is no surprise that The Chophouse On Broad Street is becoming a massive draw, with over 60% of their weekend guests driving in from outside Floyd County! But we are so lucky to have them right here at home, especially with the incredible events they have lined up for the rest of 2026.

They just kicked off the summer with an incredible “Evening at Biltmore Estate”, featuring the winemaker and staff straight from the winery! There is so much more to come, so be sure to mark your calendars:

  • Father’s Day Weekend (June 19th-20th): A special menu featuring incredible bourbon flights.
  • June 24th: A Martini Escape Night with Bellagio bartender and XXI Martinis founder Angelo Bottley and co-founder Shannon Keeran.

And the most exciting news? By New Year’s 2027, they are opening a world-class bar and dessert room upstairs, complete with a live Jazz club Wednesday through Saturday!

The Ultimate Date Night

If you are looking for the absolute perfect date night spot in Rome, look no further. Wesley and I loved how the entire atmosphere practically begs you to slow down, put your phones away, and truly connect. They intentionally pace their meal service so you never feel rushed, giving you plenty of time to actually talk and enjoy each other’s company over a phenomenal meal. Between the gorgeous, warm lighting, the top-tier service, and the unbelievable food, it feels like a luxurious escape right in the heart of Downtown. They know exactly how to make you and your significant other feel incredibly special.

On Thursday nights from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, they host Date Night. Featuring a specially prepared menu, couples can dine for $150.00. Reservations can be made at 706-512-8343 or Online

Planning Your Visit

If you are planning an anniversary, a birthday, or a romantic date night, this is the place. When you make a reservation, let them know you are celebrating! You’ll be greeted with a signed card from the staff and a complimentary glass of French Piper-Heidsieck champagne (or a dessert!). They deliberately pace your meal so you can completely relax. Even if you snag the final reservation at 10:00 PM, they stay open for two more hours so you will never feel rushed.

Reservations are highly recommended on the weekends. You can book directly at www.chophouseobs.com or through OpenTable.
