Sassy Salvage: An Up-cycle Boutique in Rome, Ga

www.facebook.com

Sassy Salvage: an up-cycle boutique in Rome, Georgia, is a unique business. It features items that have been salvaged and re-purposed into unique decorations. If you are like me and could not decorate if your life depended on it, they can help. They aim to inspire you to create a unique look for your home by using what you already have and adding a few special items for a different style, or they can completely furnish your room with their decor. The creativity displayed here is impressive and unique.

Sassy Salvage began when owners Lisa Tate and Marcia Stegall met while antique shopping 15 years ago. After discussing their passion for up-cycling and re-purposing items, they rented a booth in a local antique store. When the antique store closed, they decided to open their shop instead of letting their business die. They have run their store for five years now.

Lisa has always been passionate about breathing new, vibrant life into things many would discard. She said it was something she learned from and shared with her mother; she has a talent for it. The day I visited, I saw what she had been working on that day. She was re-purposing lamps and giving them a fresh coat of paint.

Marcia is an amazingly talented artist who has been creating colorful art pieces for 30 years. She has a natural talent and paints unique pieces sold in the store. She also paints all the signs for the store.

So what makes their business so unique? They can help you decorate your home by giving you as much (or as little) help as you need. When you enter the store, furniture and decorations are grouped into “style showrooms” to help inspire you. If you wish, they can also come to your home and give a personal consultation on decorating by either up-cycling your existing pieces or adding new elements to create a unique look. Since they specialize in several design styles, they will surely find one that perfectly suits your personality and what you want to accomplish. As you browse their shop, some styles you will find are Rustic, Farmhouse, and Shabby Chic.

I love how they take an older item and give it a new life. I tried that once with a dresser. It took me two years to sand and repaint it. They do this daily. I also love all the crosses on display in the store. They have a talent for this type of art.
