Honeymoon Bakery is located on Broad Street in beautiful historic downtown Rome and is located next door to Harvest Moon Cafe. Honeymoon Bakery is an absolute local favorite that specializes in cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries, gelato, sweetbreads, and much more! I encourage you to not miss out on this treat.
As illustrated in the photos, they have a variety of cupcakes and cookies, pastries and specialty items. They can also make custom cakes for any occasion. There is a window looking into the area where the magic happens (cakes are decorated). It always amazes me how they make such wonderful creations out of icing and imagination. They also offer a variety of drinks: Coca-Cola fountain drinks, Coffee from Swift and Finch, Tazo Teas, glass bottled sodas, juice, and milk.
They have Gelato, which is Italian Ice Cream served in a cone or cup, and it is always a special treat. They even offer different types of cones. The Gelato is unique because even though there are several ice cream shops around town, Honeymoon Bakery is the only one with Gelato.
Breakfast! They offer breakfast specialties during the morning breakfast hours. They open at 7:00 am during the week, 8:00 am Saturdays and are closed on Sunday. They have biscuits, croissants, muffins and a breakfast platter. They also have sausage balls. Unfortunately, I was not able to try those because they were sold out when I got there. It must be a popular item because I was not the only one that asked for them during my visit. I heard several customers request them. I will have to go back earlier in the morning and try them out. I was a bit surprised by the number of people that were there. On a Tuesday morning at 9:00 it was quite busy. I opted for the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. It was like the Godzilla of biscuits. It was huge, and I can’t believe I ate the whole thing! It took a few minutes to get my order which is completely fine with me because it was prepared fresh and I am always willing to wait on fresh.
My kids and I have been to Honeymoon Bakery several times throughout the year and they are always festive. There is no wrong time of year to visit Honeymoon Bakery. They offer seasonal desserts that are always adorable and fun to eat. If you have a special event, Honeymoon Bakery is sure to be a hit. Their signature white boxes with a blue label are sure to get everyone excited.
After getting your food you can grab a seat inside and explore the interesting decor or at one of the limited number of tables and chairs outside, or you can take it with you, eating your treat as you wander down Broad Street, exploring the unique shops and sights. This bakery a must for anyone with a sweet tooth.
