When it comes to buying or selling a home in our beautiful corner of Northwest Georgia, you don’t just need someone who can fill out the paperwork; you need someone who truly knows the heartbeat of the community. In a highly competitive real estate market, who you choose to guide you matters. That’s why I am so thrilled to shine a spotlight on Tammy Casey, an Associate Broker who has dedicated 20 years to the local real estate industry.
Tammy is the perfect example of our philosophy here at When In Rome, Ga. She is deeply rooted in our town, values relationships over transactions, and genuinely loves helping her neighbors. Because she stays local, she knows local.

Tammy Casey Has Deep Roots in the Rome Community
Tammy’s connection to Rome and Floyd County isn’t just about selling houses; it’s about a lifetime of living and working right alongside us. Out of high school, Tammy worked at the local cotton mill, Galey & Lord, in Shannon, for 15 years.
When the mill eventually shut down, she explored a few different paths, including nursing and cosmetology, before a career assessment at Georgia Northwestern pointed her strongly toward business. She got her real estate license in 2006, right before the market crash.
But Tammy is nothing if not resilient. While navigating a tough real estate market, she went back to school, earning both her associate and bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration from Shorter University. She also obtained her GRI, ABR, SRS, RETS, e-PRO, and REO Specialist. To make ends meet and keep her real estate dreams alive, she worked at Kellogg’s, often running on just two or three hours of sleep.
Today, she does real estate full-time and absolutely loves it. Her incredible network stems from her large family and the deep bonds she formed at the mill, at Kellogg’s, and in the local schools.
The “Why” Behind The Hustle
What truly makes Tammy stand out from the crowd is her heart for her clients. For her, the priority is clear: making sure her buyers and sellers are completely satisfied.
“My clients are more important to me,” Tammy shared during our interview. “I mean, of course, I’m in it to make money, but I want my clients happy before I feel good about making the money that I made.”
That motivation is what keeps her hustling day in and day out. She takes the time to walk her clients through every single step of the process so everything goes smoothly, ensuring they feel confident, not regretful, at the closing table. For sellers, she acts as a trusted advisor, helping them declutter and prepare their homes so they are perfectly priced and appealing to buyers.

Building a Trusted Local Team
A successful real estate transaction takes a lot of moving parts, and you are only as good as the team you surround yourself with. While Tammy is your primary guide, she brings a vetted, extended support system to the table.
She has curated a list of exceptional home inspectors, preferred lenders, and specialized tradesmen. Whether you need a straight-shooting roofer or an honest electrician, Tammy only recommends professionals who do good work and offer reasonable, truthful estimates.
Navigating the Current Market
The housing market is always shifting. Lately, Tammy has noticed buyers feeling a bit nervous, sometimes backing out right before their due diligence period ends.
To prepare for a successful transaction, Tammy offers this crucial piece of advice for prospective buyers: Get preapproved before you start looking.
Unless you are paying cash, knowing your exact price range helps narrow down the perfect homes and ensures you have the necessary funds for your down payment and closing costs. That way, when you find the perfect place, you can make a strong offer and keep moving forward without any stressful roadblocks.

Tammy Casey Reflects on 20 Years of Real Estate
Looking back on her career, Tammy admits that while the endless daily paperwork can be a challenge, her deep love for Rome and the joy of making her buyers happy make it all completely worthwhile. She leans on God and her mom for inspiration, and she encourages anyone looking to plant roots in our community to simply be willing to put in the hard work.
If she could offer one piece of advice to her younger self starting out 20 years ago, it would be to have patience, a hard-earned virtue she now uses every single day to help her clients find their perfect home.
If you are looking to buy or sell a home in Floyd County, you want someone with patience, an unmatched work ethic, and a deep love for our community. Reach out to Tammy Casey to help you navigate your next big move!
