Kava Den And Elixirs

Kava is a traditional South Pacific beverage that has been used for centuries for its relaxing and calming effects. It is derived from a root and is part of the black pepper family. It is a natural alternative to alcohol and other drugs. Traveling Gypsies and Kava Den only serves the highest quality kava. Alcohol does not mix well with kava, so for your first visit you may be asked if you have consumed any alcohol before being served. They want your first experience to be a positive one and not one where you end up sick. Since kava is a holistic alternative to alcohol and has helped people with sobriety.

Kratom is a plant from southeast Asia and is part of the coffee family. There’s no caffeine in it, but it can have the same properties as caffeine. The leaves are brewed like tea, with flavors and creams added to make a drink with health benefits.

A salt cabin is a relaxing and therapeutic environment. It uses a halo generator to disperse pharmaceutical-grade salt into the air. The salt helps to cleanse the air, improve respiratory health, and relieve skin disorders such as eczema. The salt cabin also has a heated Himalayan foot detox lamp to rest your feet on during therapy. Massage cushions and chromotherapy are available for a small additional fee. Traveling Gypsies and Kava Den One-Year Anniversary

In May of 2023, Traveling Gypsies And Kava Den celebrated their first anniversary of being in business. Jim and Sami Gravedoni, originally from Florida, visited Rome, Georgia looking for a place to open their new business. When they arrived in Rome, they said they felt like it was home. They believe in holistic healing focusing on the whole body, mind, and spirit health. Their experiences with kava bars in Florida made the decision to serve kava an easy choice. While they could have bought a franchise, they had bigger ideas. They wanted to incorporate the holistic alternatives they offer as well as the kava den to give a complete mind body and spirit approach.

The name Traveling Gypsies And Kava Den comes from their desire to travel when they retire and of course, being a kava bar in a cozy den-like atmosphere. They wanted to create a place where people could meet and get to know each other in a calm and cozy environment. Another goal was to provide a place where people could go without the pressure of drinking alcohol. They encourage people to play board games, listen to music and just enjoy each other’s company. They don’t serve food, so bringing in your food is acceptable. Their goal is to provide a distraction-free environment that allows people to be present in the moment.

Creating An Immersive Experience

It has been Jim and Sami’s goal to create an immersive experience where everyone feels welcome and at home in the Kava Den. Like clockwork on Tuesdays thru Saturdays at 6:00 pm, the whole place raises their kava bowl for a toast and everyone says “Bula!”, which means life, and drinks their kava drink. This daily tradition has become popular among regular patrons. While kava is not served to anyone under 18, they offer child-friendly drinks that can be served to the younger participants and those who rather not drink kava.

If you are celebrating something they will raise a bowl to you to help you celebrate your birthday, anniversary, job promotion, retirement….you name it anything that is a life event they will celebrate with you.

This tradition has become so popular that patrons who are traveling out of town have been known to call in at 6:00 p.m. to participate over the phone since they can’t be there in person.

They regularly bring in Reiki masters, massage therapists, and other healers. Tuesdays are Self Care Days and they are always looking for new ways to incorporate a healthy lifestyle.

Overcoming Obstacles

One of the biggest obstacles the owners of Traveling Gypsies and Kava Den has had to overcome is the lack of understanding of their products. Trying to get rid of the stigma that comes with some of the products can be challenging.

So many times, a holistic approach gets a bad reputation because businesses claim to be holistic while selling unidentifiable products in bulk. The salesperson doesn’t know about the product, and they sure can’t tell you what the ingredients are or where they come from.

At Traveling Gypsies and Kava Den, they know exactly what they are selling and where the product is from. All of the ingredients they use are made of the highest quality and they are names that can be pronounced.

Finding Inspiration

With such a unique establishment, they have had people from all over the country stop by. Some of the highlights of the business is having people from Hawaii stopping by and telling them that their Kava Den is better than the ones they have at home where kava bars are on every corner. They have had NASA employees who have traveled around the world stop by and leave them a glowing review. Also, they had a regular customer journey to Hawaii. The kava bar that he visited there had already heard rave reviews about Rome’s Travelling Gypsies And Kava Den!

Traveling Gypsies and Kava Den’s goal is to provide a comfortable and safe, alcohol-free environment that encourages people of all ages to relax and get to know each other. They strive to provide a positive place that is welcoming to all walks of life. They want to be seen as a gathering place that is an alternative to the typical “bar environment”.

Some people’s first impression of the storefront may be overwhelming, simply because of how unique this establishment is. We encourage you to go in, ask questions, and get to know Jim and Sami. There is no pressure, just warmth, and acceptance of where you may be in life.
