After a year on hold in 2020, it seems like everyone is ready to get back outdoors. Our Rome Braves have always been a favorite, and this year they are back and better than ever. So take me out to the Rome Braves game!
A Rome Braves game is the perfect outing for any age. Our family tries to go at least once a year, and some years we have gone several times. We have even considered buying season tickets because it would not be a waste of money. Before each game, the National Anthem is sung by a local group or individual talent. It is incredible and is one of my favorite parts of the entire experience.
The Rome Braves home field is AdventHealth Stadium, previously State Mutual Stadium, also known as Miracle Field, located on the Rome bypass. The Rome Braves are a Class A Minor League affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. They moved to Rome in 2003 from Macon, Georgia, and have become a well-loved part of our community. Rome Braves games are very affordable, and there are lots of ticket options offered. The season typically begins in April and runs through September. During the Braves’ off-season, the stadium and parking lots host different events. Some examples of events held at the stadium are the Redneck Rummage Sale and the Alzheimer’s Walk.
There are a lot of activities going on during a game. There is always enough to keep our family entertained. Sometimes I get so caught up in the things going on around us that I forgot about the game. (Just don’t get so distracted that you forget to watch out for fly balls!)
Get there early for giveaways at the gate. Each night is a different themed night, and local companies give away items at the entrance to those who arrive early enough.
Are you planning to bring young kids with you? There is always plenty for them to do. Bounce houses, games, and an opportunity to run the bases are just a few of the things offered.
Three mascots walk around greeting the fans. Romey is the original mascot, Roxie is the girl mascot, and the kid mascot is Roman. They interact with everyone and are so much fun to watch. They get the crowd excited and involved in the action. They also team up with the Braves Brigade pep squad to do side games on the Big Screen throughout the baseball game, and the participants win some pretty cool prizes. They also give away t-shirts, hot dogs, and other cool things during the games. The mascots love to take pictures with the fans and will sign baseballs you may catch. This reminds me…BRING YOUR GLOVE! There are usually lots of opportunities to catch a fly ball.
There are so many options for groups of any size. Several pavilions of various sizes are located around the stadium. Every time that we have attended a game, there have been groups or companies hosting private events there.
Birthday celebration packages (called “Balloon Parties”) are also offered for kids! The birthday boy or girl also gets on-field recognition and their name on the big screen.
On the 3rd baseline, there is a concession stand called “Sliders 3rd Base” and is operated by volunteers working to earn money for their specific organizations. Further down the 3rd baseline is the “Captain’s Chair”, which offers a variety of beers, both on tap and bottled. Beer is also available at the concession stands, but their offerings are more limited.
Suites are available that offer an all-you-can-eat buffet and drinks. These are the best seats in the house. Best of all, the suite seats are air-conditioned, so when the heat sets in for the summer, you will want to score seats in the suites!
Terrace seating is nice and it is mostly in the shade. The terrace has a great view and it also comes with the all-you-can-eat options.
A Rome Braves game is a great way for churches, businesses, or families to host a group event. It’s also great for smaller crowds. There are so many options. All you have to do is call and tell them what you want and the size of your group, and they can help you organize the perfect event.
Everywhere you look at the stadium, you will see advertisements for local businesses and organizations, and you can tell that the Braves support our community.
Even though there is so much going on and so much to do, it is still not as overwhelming as going to a Major League game. Parking is easily accessible, and there are plenty of handicap-accessible seats.
