Whether planning Valentine’s Day, your anniversary, your first date, or just a romantic date night, here are the most romantic things to do in Rome, Georgia.
Immerse yourself in the Downtown Nightlife
Rome has a fantastic nightlife. There is always something happening on the weekends on Broad Street: live music, trivia nights, and great food. The atmosphere is excellent in the evenings. You can always find something fun to do in the downtown area.
Make Something Together
Okay…if you have seen the movie GHOST, you know how romantic making something from pottery can be. Rome has several options for making a romantic treasure together. Swerve: Off the Path is an art studio that offers all types of art classes. You can create a painting, pottery, or mosaic. Earthworks Pottery offers classes where you can create your own piece of artwork. Imagine making adorable matching coffee mugs. There is also Studio Siri that offers painting parties. You can make something that you can treasure. It is a great activity for couples.
Spend The Night Right On The River
Taking an overnight trip doesn’t have to take you out of town. A romantic overnight getaway can be as close as downtown. Stay in one of the hotels overlooking the River! It’s within easy walking distance of everything you need. They also have a great bar and restaurant in the hotel.
Take A Walk Across Robert Redden Foot Bridge
This historic bridge is where the Oostanaula River and the Etowah River meet to form the Coosa River. This old train swing bridge that used to move to allow steamboats to pass has been transformed into a walking path. Along both sides of the bridge, people have placed locks with their initials, symbolizing their love for each other.
Bonus: Progressive Dinner Down Broad Street
I love this idea! My daughter and one of her friends did it one weekend. After she told me about it, I thought it would make a great date night. You take turns picking your favorite restaurants to complete your meal. They started at their favorite place to get drinks, continued to the next restaurant to get their appetizer, then to the next for the main meal, and then to another restaurant for the dessert. This could be tweaked and easily done on Broad Street, where everything is conveniently close together. An especially cool added bonus is that you will be supporting local businesses. You could start with specialty drinks at Swift and Finch, The Moon Bar, River Dog Outpost, or Rome City Brewing. Next, you could get an appetizer at Schroder’s, Jefferson’s, or Giggity’s. Next, you choose your entree, Harvest Moon Restaurant, Rock N Roll Sushi, John Henry’s, or Mellow Mushroom. End your date with a sweet treat from Honey Moon Bakery or the City Creamery. This date takes a long time, but you experience many different things. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a first date. Still, this one would be a lot of fun for an anniversary date night or just for a couple that hasn’t had a date in a long time. Of course, you can always modify it to suit your needs.
