When I started a blog about Rome, Georgia, I wanted to share with my readers all the beautiful places I knew about in Rome. Little did I know how much I would discover myself. One of the places that I have learned about is Lawrence Preserve at Horseleg Creek. It is located in the Horseleg Creek area of Rome, one of the most sought-after areas. Nestled within the Horseleg Creek area is The Lawrence Preserve.
Lawrence Preserve at Horseleg Creek has all the beauty of being in the country with all the convenience of being just minutes from downtown Rome, Georgia. On our recent visit to Lawrence Preserve, my husband and I met with the director, Todd Williams, who is doing some fantastic things there.
Lawrence Preserve is best known for its gorgeous southern-style home rented for venues, but it’s not just a place to hold events. It has a pool, the first covered tennis courts in Rome, uncovered tennis courts, and a full gym.
You will find ample parking when you pull up to the large house. The house is large and has a beautiful southern charm. It is surrounded by large inviting porches on all sides, with 135 acres of beauty right off the back porch.
The house is gorgeous. I cannot stress that enough. It has so much charm.
The back porch stretches the length of the house. It is covered with fans and rocking chairs and is wheelchair accessible.
From the back porch, you overlook 135 acres of beautiful scenery. The hill serving as the backdrop in the distance is Walker Mountain. There are several places to hold outdoor events and experience the area’s natural beauty. The grounds are well-maintained, and there are several walking paths.
Venue
Lawrence Preserve is a beautiful place to host an event. It has all the modern appliances you need to host the event yourself, or you could have it catered in.
The gorgeous house can be reserved for weddings, conferences, parties, quinceaneras, class reunions, and proms. They have space available for basically anything you can imagine.
They also have an up-to-date audio/video system, tables, and chairs for 200 people, serving trays, warmers, flatware, dishes, glasses, vases, and just about anything else you would need for your event available on-site that can be reserved as well. Todd, the director, is also very knowledgeable about local resources you may need for your event if you are looking for that perfect caterer or Karaoke DJ.
Fortunately for us, on the day we visited, a wedding was set up, so we got an idea of how the seating could look.
Don’t worry about locating a spot to prepare for your special day. The Bridal Suite is a large elegant area for the bride and the bridal party to prepare for a wedding. There are restrooms, mirrors, and two showers available.
If you only need a little space, a Party Room is available. It is located next to the pool and is perfect for parties, small group gatherings, bridal showers, or baby showers. It has just the right amount of space for a smaller event.
Tennis
With the growing popularity of tennis in Rome, you should check out their tennis courts. They have the only covered tennis courts in Rome. Beautiful outdoor courts are also available for use when the weather is nice. All of the courts are lighted. Sundays are set aside for social doubles tennis. Next to the courts is the Tennis Pro Shop. It offers merchandise and services for every tennis player and skill.
Recently joining their staff is Adrian Lively, the new Tennis Director, along with Pro Tennis Instructor Brent Molyneux.
Pool
There is a beautiful pool available on the property. Surrounding the pool on the large, inviting deck is ample seating to relax and soak up some rays.
Going to the pool at Lawrence Preserve, you can be intentional about spending time with your family and relaxing without pool maintenance responsibilities.
On select nights during the summer, you can enjoy movie nights by the pool. There is also a smaller pool for younger kids to splash around in.
There is a poolside snack bar that can provide snacks and light meals during the summer. It’s nice to know that you don’t have to worry about food when you pack your day bag for the pool.
Gym
Lawrence Preserve has a fully stocked, air-conditioned gym available if you need to work up a sweat. A few times throughout the year, they hold “boot camp” to quickly jumpstart your fitness goals.
Membership
As we were touring the grounds, the members were greeted, and the staff knew their names. It gives a personal touch that makes you feel like you belong.
