Shopping is easy whether you live here or visit Rome, Georgia, with many boutiques and antique stores to choose from. Nestled among all the locally-owned shops, Rome is a shopaholic’s dream destination.
When it comes to shopping, I prefer smaller specialty stores. I advocate for small businesses, and shopping locally benefits a local business owner and the local community instead of a huge corporation. You can go to small businesses and get personal, one-on-one assistance. The personal touch and the individual attention that comes with shopping at boutiques is a unique experience. Rome has so many shops to explore.
Boutiques
A boutique is a small specialty shop that offers highly specialized services or products. You can find many different boutiques and specialty shops throughout Rome, Georgia.
In Rome, you can find an assortment of women’s boutiques, such as Mel & Mimi’s, a ladies’ boutique that has been around for over 30 years and offers beautiful, unique items for women. It is located in a beautiful older home in downtown Rome. The owners transformed it into a distinctively unique store with a lot of charm and character. They have any style you can imagine to help you create your desired look.
The Lodge is a Menswear specialty outfitter on 2nd Avenue for the gentleman. The shop, owned by Hal Richardson, has owned prominent retail shops around Rome since he was 19 years old. Being a men’s specialty store, he can help you achieve any look you desire or style you can dream up. The Lodge sources its products locally and from around the world and offers a variety of luxury items, including shoes, wallets, cuff links, ties, cologne, flasks, exotic leather accessories, and undergarments.
Broad Street is a central hub for all your shopping needs and is humming with several boutiques and specialty shops. As you explore up and down Broad Street, you will discover a treasure trove of specialty clothing, jewelry, outdoor sports, and cookware shops. Specialty Jewelry stores such as Green’s Jewelers have been family-owned and passed down for generations. New stores such as Olea Olive Oils & Wines have gained quick popularity with their variety of Olive Oils and Saturday Wine Tastings. There are always new shops opening, bringing fresh ideas and flair.
Antiques And Vintage Shops
Antique shops are more popular than ever, and there are several in Downtown Rome to visit. Shops like The Yellow Door sell antiques and local art pieces. I love looking at antiques and could have spent quite a lot of time at The Yellow Door. The antique shops have booths that their vendors rent, so each brings something unique and special.
Repurpose and Up-Cycling Shops
For a completely different take on retail, check out Sassy Salvage. It is an up-cycle retail shop that is unique. They take furniture and decorations and repurpose them into new and beautiful pieces for your home. They can help create a new look for your home by using what you already have and adding a few unique items, or they can completely furnish your room with their decor. Their creativity is impressive and unique.
