I have been driving by this place for years but I had never stopped in until recently. I grew up about three blocks from Hot Wings Etc and drove past every day. It is literally a trailer on the side of the road. I think the simplicity of the place is what finally drew us to it, and the fact that it has been there for over 20 years and is always busy. Within seconds of being there, we learned that they have their regular customers, and it is best to call your order in ahead of time. While we were looking over the menu board, customers were walking up to pick up their call-in orders. There were even signs posted suggesting that you call in your order ahead of time. It was also posted that the food is made to order.  I made sure to ask for a menu to take with us so we can call ahead next time. Even though we didn’t call ahead, we only waited for our food for 10-15 minutes.  There are about four picnic tables under an awning out front and that is where we sat to wait for our food.

The menu features a wide variety of food which includes Wings, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Po’ Boys, Chicken Sandwiches, Philly Cheese Steaks, Gizzards, Chicken Tenders, Catfish, and Tilapia. They have party trays and the wings have several sauces to choose from.

Philly Cheese Steak

I chose the Philly Cheese Steak. It was great! The fries were lightly seasoned and really good. It was served with fries. I don’t know if you can substitute the fries for something else. It is my opinion, though, that fries are the best side with a Philly Cheese Steak. They also have a Chicken Fajita Philly that sounds like something I need to try next time.

Catfish Plate with fries and slaw

My husband chose the Catfish Dinner. He said it was good and tender with flavorful seasoning. The spices were not too overbearing. It came with slaw and fries.  The highlight of his meal, though, was the Onion Rings he ordered separately. He has been searching for what he calls “old-fashioned” onion rings and they had them. He said they were like the ones he got as a kid at the Dairy King in Coosa. He hasn’t been able to find them like that in a very long time.

Onion Rings

They do not offer a lot of drink choices beyond the standard sodas and sweet tea, but they do serve lemonade, which I chose. It was so good. I am picky about my lemonade and theirs was very flavorful. I even told my daughter she should run by and try it sometime.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, although the wait was not unpleasant, we will probably call in our order ahead next time.
